Our story
We are Sonny, Arina, Wesley and Madelon — two families, close friends for more than ten years, and four years into a shared dream: moving to Spain together and building Brújula Coast.
About us
We are Sonny, Arina, Wesley and Madelon — two families, close friends for more than ten years, and four years into a dream that has grown bigger than ourselves. In one more year, we will take the final step: moving to Spain together and running our own business there.
How it started
Sonny (43) and Madelon (41) have known each other for twenty years, through a mutual friend. The connection never went away. About ten years ago, through another mutual friend, the close friendship between the four of us began — and we have been inseparable ever since.\n\nSonny works as a Team Lead Security Service Consultant and volunteers with the fire service. He comes from a family of carpenters with a background in electrical and security engineering. Arina is the person in her brother's garage who keeps everything running that is not under the bonnet — from first contact with customers and administration to invoicing and everything in between. Wesley, like Sonny, grew up in a building family and has a strong construction background. He now works as a workshop manager for the fire service, where he also volunteers in Logistics and Support. Madelon combines her administrative background with her work as a swimming teacher and has extensive retail experience, including as a hostess — hospitality has always come naturally to her.\n\nThe remarkable thing is that the idea did not start around one kitchen table, but two. Independently, both couples began dreaming of the same things: more sunshine, a slower pace of life and, above all, more time for the family. When we discovered one evening that we had both already been quietly calculating and dreaming, there was no doubt: we were going to do this together.
Why Spain, why this
What drives us is simple: more time with our children, leaving behind the pressure of working life in the Netherlands, and building a life in the Spanish rhythm where family comes first. It is also a return to our roots — Sonny and Wesley can truly do everything together, from electrical work to plastering, and have renovated an entire house. We are now combining that hands-on mentality with something new: starting our own business, the four of us, from scratch.
The children
Our family consists of Alex (18) and Jolie (11), Sonny and Arina's children, and Evie (12) and Lucas (9), Wesley and Madelon's children. Jurriaan (17), Sonny's son, is also part of our family — he will continue to live in the Netherlands with his mother.
What we are building: Brújula Coast
In one year, we will move together to the Costa Blanca. There we will start Brújula Coast — key holding, maintenance, cleaning and holiday rental management for holiday homes, created by people who understand what it means to care for a home with love. We do not want to be an anonymous company, but a brand built on trust: owners who can entrust their home to us when they are away, and guests who feel welcome and want to return. Exactly as we would want it for ourselves and for each other.\n\nThis is not a plan that appeared overnight — for four years, we have been taking this journey together, consciously and step by step. One more year, and it will be time. We would love to take you along with us.
